Looks like Odell Beckham has just made NFL history with his new show deal with Nike. The Giants wide receiver just signed a deal in the ball park of around $5 million a year for the next 5 years with Nike, who were competing with Adidas for the high valued football player.
Beckham' last show deal with Nike was much lower giving him less than $1 million a year. This deal is two times more than any other NFL player has received, making it the richest shoe deal an NFL player has ever done. Nike started gaining more recognition with Beckham with the shoes he wore before each game last year, being customized by sneaker designer Troy Cole. Each design was something more crazy and gossiped about. "It was a long process," Beckham's agent, Zeke Sandhu, told ESPN. "This proved he's an icon."
Back in December, a shooting broke out at a Meek Mill concert in Connecticut, killing 2 people and injuring 2 more. Two of the families of the victims have decided to sue Meek and the theater where the concert was held, which is owned by Live Nation. The families are suing for negligence & failure to provided adequate security at the venue, saying the venue was "grossly understaffed" the night of the show. They are also blaming Meek for his violent music inciting the crowd & that the venue permitted "thugs" to linger in the area after the concert. "With song titles like 'Body Count' and 'Oh Kill 'Em' [sic] that praise indiscriminate killing and mayhem, the potential for tragic incidents like this should have been properly anticipated and planned for by Meek Mill, his concert promoters and the Oakdale Theatre," said Joel Faxon, the family's attorney. Jaquan Graves, 20, and Travis Ward, 31, were killed that night; Wards family is suing along with the family of one of the injured men. Ward's family is seeking $15,000 in damages. No arrest have been made in connection. No comment has come from Meek Mills side.
