Wednesday March 8th was the International Women's Day and this year was all about "A Day Without Women" as a continued protest of the world wide, record-breaking Women's March that happened in January following President Trump's Inauguration. For the "Day Without Women", ladies and supporters could participate in 3 different ways: take the day of off paid and unpaid work, not shop in stores unless women owned, minority owned or small business and/or simply wear red. I decided to put together a small lunch event for the ladies of Eastern North Carolina to show our appreciation and to let them know we too stand for our rights as women! The message we hoped to bring: We are women and we stand for our equal rights. This was my first event and it turned out to be a success! News crews from WNCT, WITN and other surrounding news stations were there to document the event. And free food, drinks and prizes were given to those who attended! I was SO nervous about this but it ended up all coming together after a morning of running around!
I can say, that I am proud of myself and my station!
